ISS researcher, finalist in the national fellowships program UNESCO – L’Oreal „For Women in Science”

L'Oreal event-458PhD. Paula Gina Isar, Scientific Researcher tier II at the Institute of Space Science and institutional representative (ISS) at the Pierre Auger Observatory, was one of the finalists in the sixth edition of the national fellowships program L’Oréal – UNESCO „For Women in Science”.

Organised in order to support the local scientific community, the program was dedicated to Romanian female researchers under the age of 35, who are either PhD students or have obtained a PhD and are undergoing a postgraduate training program, and offered two grants: one for the Life Sciences and one for Physical Sciences sections.

The applications for the program were evaluated by a jury composed of representatives of the Romanian National Commission for UNESCO and of L’Oréal Romania, as well as renowned researchers from the National Authority for Scientific Research and Innovation and from the Romanian Academy.

From the total number of entries three finalists were selected for each section, including Paula Gina Isar, nominated within the Physical Sciences section.

The Awards Gala was held on 13th of May in Bucharest, at the Central University Library, in the presence of prestigious guests from the fields of education and scientific research, such as the UEFISCDI Director, Adrian Curaj, the ANCSI President, Tudor Prisecaru, and the President of the UPB Senate, Ecaterina Andronescu, including country general manager of L’Oreal Romania, Gilles Antoine.
